Tate St Ives

Horrified to read on your web pages that the Tate may be "planning to expand". Why not relocate the Tate and build some more retirement flats!

Too true.

We're still hoping that they'll re-instate the original gasworks!

To be honest it mystifies me why people come to St. Ives to do the cultural thing but totally fail to get the point that the original (and talented) St. Ives artists were mostly miserable povs who had to eke out a living any way they could. You aren't going to find the spirit of those people in a 'state of the art' gallery.

Seek them in the nooks and crannies of St. Ives and in the hearts and minds of those still left who remember them. Some of the stories I've been told .....
