So, beerly beloved, let us continue onwards, ever upwards .....
There are just a couple more stiles ..... |
 |
..... and a couple more fields to traverse and then ..... |
 |
My eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the pub! |
 |
The path goes past the side of the pub and brings you out on
the main road in Cripplesease. |
 |
Thank you, God! |
 |
But before you all slink in for a slake contain your righteous thirst for a
mo as we take you for a quick spin around downtown Cripplesease.
Surprised you!
The 'castle' is really a ruined mine. |
 |
This particular bit being .....
..... The Engine House! |
 |
Hence, the name.
And you were wondering where the train tracks were, weren't you! |
 |
Right. That's quite enough in-depth historical analysis. Now, for a spot of
philosophy .....
Why are we here?
Because there's a pub. Honestly, this philosophy stuff is a doddle!
The Engine Inn as a compact and bijou little hostelry, mainly run by a couple
of Cornish amazons, Nancy and Judith. The beer is good and they have enlightened
21st century approach to children - badly behaved ones get killed and cooked!
A just feel the piccies and sample that atmosphere of peace
and tranquility. |
 |
Do not be deceived by apparent absence of clientele, it's
all down to timing your visits right (and trick photography!). |
 |
All sorts of interesting things are on offer ..... |
 |
..... although we are not sure what all of them do! |
 |
Some locals like sit and read the papers in peace ..... |
 |
..... while others prefer to hunker down by the wood fire
and tell tall tales. |
