The lifeboat at sea in St. Ives Bay, Cornwall

St. Ives, Cornwall has a long and proud lifeboat tradition and even now volunteer crew stand by ready to launch in an instant when yet another imbecile starts floating off in the direction of America on their inflatable crocodile.

There is a small shop attached to the lifeboat station stocked with all sorts of goodies. In addition, not only the St. Ives museum but a number of pubs have photos of the good/bad old days.

One of the more controversial incidents revolving around the lifeboat concerns the wreck of the Alba.
